Fishin'

We knew Avery was going to have a hard time fishing after we went to the stock pond and she caught something every cast, and she did. She got 2 bites and that was it. As we were leaving she kept throwing rocks into the lake saying things like: "Oh, you don't want to eat my worm, how about this?" It was kind of funny, but funny-if-it-wasn't-your-kid funny. She did have fun, even if she didn't catch anything. And after we talked to her, she was okay with getting skunked!

Home on the Range

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roamWhere the deerAnd the antelope play

Custer

We went through Custer State Park. It was a pretty drive and had some cool hikes. While we were driving to Mount Rushmore, I said, "Where's the stinking donkeys?" So later on, Haley says, "Where's the stinking donkeys?" It was pretty funny and then became the theme of the trip. Well, while we were driving through Custer, we found the stinking donkeys!

Pack Mule?

Why you need a strong Dad!!

Looking Around

We went exploring around the campground we stayed at. It was some one's land and they own 1 1/2 miles of properly. There were deer everywhere. We woke up to deer next to our camper and ate dinner with them until we went to bed. One night, Avery and Haley wanted to sneak up on them. They went walking along the road and then Avery turns to Haley and says, "We should walk on the grass, so we don't scare them away." Kev was so proud! I guess he'll make her into a hunter after all!Avery was tracking the deer and turned around to tell us to be quiet.

Mount Rushmore

Where do you go when you can't decide where to go camping? Apparently at our house, Mount Rushmore. Avery had Monday and Tuesday off of school this week and we were planning on going camping. We couldn't decide where to go. Kev on Wednesday night said what about Mount Rushmore? So, Thursday afternoon I called a bunch of campgrounds to see if they had room. We decided at about 7:00 Thursday night to just go, so Friday we were off. A little later than we wanted thanks to a last minute project Kev had to do at work, but we had a blast! We went to the lighting ceremony and it was pretty cool. They play a little patriotic movie about the 4 presidents and then sing America the Beautiful and then light them up. Then everyone joins in the National Anthem. Avery was so excited to get to sing the National Anthem. Haley was done by that point so her and Kev went up a little way and she ran around. She likes to sing it, too, and knows most of it thanks to her big sis.

Haley's haircut

Haley got a haircut! Ever since I got Avery's hair cut, Kev kept asking why I didn't get Haley's done too, so I cut it off the other day. She was somewhat helpful. She stayed still for a couple of minutes at least. I think she looks so cute!!

Hiking

We went hiking a couple of weeks ago and it was a really hard hike. Everyone on the trail was surprised that we had the girls with us. Avery walked the whole way, Haley rode on Daddy's shoulders the whole way. Avery also had to keep posing every chance she got. It was fun and very beautiful.
