Avery's Hair

So, those that know me, know that I am not very girly-which may be an understatement. I am, after almost 4 years of having a girl, getting a little better at doing hair. I have yet to master french braiding. (Man, how do they get it so smooth and tight?) So, needless to say I thought I better have a plan for this upcoming wedding. These were a couple of my ideas thus far. It also looks really cute straightened with a flat iron (which doesn't take as much time-or hair spray) So, if I get really ambitious, I will take pictures of that also. Then if anyone has any feedback, I'd love to hear it!
This is before I realized you have to spray the curls while it is IN the curling iron. Like I said, I'm still learning such concepts! So, I like this, but it's not as cute in the front as I would like. And don't most people see the front of her?

I'm leaning towards this one. It took a long time! She has a LOT of hair! But, I put in Sleeping Beauty and she sat still the entire time!

Random Pics

Avery was pretending to be Mary, the mother of Jesus. Then came the six-shooter. Not exactly sure where that fits in, but she does have quite the imagination!

Haley has these beautiful, bright blue eyes that light up the room! Especially when she has her huge, mouth-open smile! She is a really happy baby, despite being sick almost the entire winter! She is fighting off yet another ear infection. She better get well soon, we leave for Brett's wedding in less than 2 weeks!

Keepin' up with the Prestons!

Lori informed me today that I was getting behind on my blog. Apparently she has forgotten that the only reason she has ANYTHING on her blog is because I put it there. So, here are some evidently long awaited pictures of the girls. Don't worry, Lori. I'll be there soon to take pictures of your kids and post them onto your blog!

Avery wanted to go fishing with the fish and pole I made, but she had to have a boat!

I have no idea what could make her so angry. Maybe it was the gorillas!

Avery's monthly picture. She didn't grow at all this month. Either that, or maybe it's not quite as accurate as you think to have her stand in front of a wooden board, put a book on her head to make sure it's straight, and mark with a sharpie how tall she is. Who'd've thought!

So, this could have been the coldest Easter ever! I thought last year's was cold. And apparently we thought it was a good idea to go to the base Easter egg hunt- along with about 500 other little kids!

Updates on Prestons

So, I never post anything without pictures, but today I am! Since my family is so horrible at posting on their blogs, I am putting some updates on mine. Kim and Jake had their baby last week, March 4th. He is a healthy baby boy named Hayes Preston Gordon and was 7 pounds 5 ounces and 20 inches long. I have not received any pictures, but saw him on the web cam and he looks exactly like Toby and Tryce did. So exactly like their daddy! Kim is doing well and is ready for some sleep.
Brett is getting married on April 25th to a beautiful girl named Lindsey in Salt Lake. We have yet to meet her, but everyone says she is perfect for Brett and really nice & fun!
Bart and Lori are having their third child, due on August 26th. (Gpa Harry's birthday!) They are excited, as are Rylee and to a lesser extent, Cade. He is more interested in the Wii!
Mom has been walking a lot better, but milking the handicapped sticker everywhere she goes. I think she keeps it so they don't have to walk far on their daily trip to Walmart. Apparently the new knee is working well, but I don't think she would like to have the other one done any time soon. Dad is dad. He's happy the weather is nice so he can be back to work landscaping. I wonder if it's the being helpful, the money, or the being outside he likes the best.
Tricia, Kevin and the boys (and step boy & girls) are as busy as ever. With seven kids, I wonder how they have time to think straight. Tyler drives now, so he can help cart everyone where they need to be.
Well, you know about the Byrdhouse, so that's the update on the Preston fam! Maybe one day they will learn how to use their blogsites!

Sick of Sick!

Avery and Haley have been sick for over a month, as you can see by their monthly pictures. Every time we would get them better, we would go to church or babysit some kids and they would catch something else. Then, the night after Avery's picture (21st), she started complaining about her ear, no SCREAMING that her ear hurt. ALL NIGHT LONG!!! And, of course, Kev was on alert. So, fed up with no sleep, the VERY CRANKY Paula took both girls to the doctor. I yelled at the front desk guy because he said Haley didn't have an appointment, so it didn't start off well. The doctor was about an hour late, and said Avery had an ear infection and Haley just had a cold. I asked for antibiotics for both of them since they had been sick for so long, but they only gave them to Avery. (This is a really long story, I know, and I'm sorry.) So, then comes Haley's monthly birthday (29th).

As you can see, she did not have a very good day... more like week. At first, we thought she just was cranky from her teeth coming in. (If you look closely at the pic above you can see them) Then when her fever kept getting higher and higher and then the tylenol was not keeping it down from 102.4, we decided there might be a problem. So, since it was Sunday, the only clinic open was the Urgent Care Center on base. I hate the UCC. But, we went and an hour and a half later learned that we had a very healthy 20 pound 9 month old. With a fever of 102.5. So, we went to church since tylenol brought her fever down and when we got home, her fever shot back up to 102.9 and she couldn't have meds for another 2 hours. We called the doc we had seen hours earlier and he told us to go to Children's Hospital. So, 3 rectal temperatures, 1 catheter, a bunch of blood, 1 chest x-ray, 2 shots of antibiotics and 4 hours later, they sent us home telling us she had a bacterial infection in her blood and to go see the base doctor tomorrow. So, that's today. I took her in to a base doctor and 2 1/2 hours later found out he doesn't think she has a blood infection, she has a horrible ear infection and put her on antibiotics. So, I am not only done with kids being sick, I am done with doctors! (Sorry if my doctor friends are reading this!) But, I am trying to figure out how her ears can be clear and "perfect" (as the UCC doc said) and 10 hours later be a bulging horrible ear infection! So, if anyone has any thoughts of how this can actually occur, please let me know!

As we were rearranging bedrooms and putting toys in Haley's room to free up some room in Avery's, I was looking at the summer clothes I bought for Avery. She decided she needed to wear her Dora swimsuit for the rest of the day. I think she either needs to grow a lot more or I will need to find her a smaller one for this year. That's what I get for trying to get a $2 swimsuit. As you can see by the kitchen floor, Haley's favorite past time is to get into a drawer of all the kid's cups and plates and spoons and throw them all over. It's really fun for Kev and me. We have since started putting a yard stick in all the drawer handles. That just makes her mad!

My Girls!

So, they were cooperative for about 2 minutes. I wanted new pictures for my wall, but they were not patient enough to let me mess with the lighting or pose them at all! I told Kevin to help me or I was going somewhere and paying to have pictures done! He was done after 2 minutes as well. So, I got some good ones for the blog and scrapbook. Maybe I'll try again, or maybe I will just end up hanging these ones. They are pretty cute, just the shadows really bug me. Oh well!

Seriously, where did she come from?

Ferris Wheel

Scheels has a huge ferris wheel in the middle of the store. Every time we went there for a long time, Avery would be so disappointed that she couldn't ride it. A guy in the gun department even gave her 2 free tokens to ride it one day, but she was always too short! You have to be 36" to ride it. So, right about the time she turned 3, she was finally 36"! She was so excited! And of course, I forgot my camera! This time Kev talked me into only bringing the little camera. I was disappointed because she screamed with delight the entire ride and I wish I had my movie setting. But, I got some good pictures and she had so much fun! Her eyes lit up when we walked in! Haley just had fun trying to find her every time she screamed! And to top off the fun trip to Scheels~ I got a new winter coat! Not only that~ someone had put a little girls Columbia in with the women's and I liked the color and tried it on. It fit and then I realized it was a little girl's coat! So, not only did I fit into a girl's coat, but instead of paying $100 for the women's one, I got it for $60~ and it was a better coat!

Hello

Avery's monthly birthday picture. She did not feel well at all. But, she did manage a beautiful smile for her daddy!Haley's monthly birthday! She is such a happy girl! We are so blessed to have such happy girls!
We went to Minnesota for our nephew Landon's baptism. Avery and Haley had so much fun playing with Kenlyn, Chris, BJ, and Gma Vickie. Haley would have liked to climb all over Landon, but we decided that was a really bad idea!
Here he is! Landon is growing up so fast!
Kenlyn is a really happy girl, too! Her and Avery wore each other out every day running around the house.I guess Kev was wore out, too!We put Avery to bed and she wanted to sleep with this little marble-sized plastic teddy bear. When we went to bed, Kev checked on her and this is what he found. She had gotten her toy bed and tucked the teddy bear in! They are so adorable when they sleep!
