Ribs

Kev smoked some ribs on Saturday and the girls insisted we take pictures of them eating. Maybe one day they will insist on a picture when they don't have BBQ sauce all over themselves!

Girls

Apparently I caught the girls by surprise while they were watching Annie.

Crazy Hair Day

A couple of weeks ago, they had crazy hair day at school. Avery wanted to wear her blonde wig! I guess she actually kept it on for over an hour!

A Story to Remember

I could not forget this story, it had me and Kev laughing so hard. I was in tears.

The girls were playing vet last night and they each had their vet kits taking care of various animals real (Ebby and Libby) and fake. Then they pretended to drive down the road and saw a sick dog on the side of the road. They stopped to help the dog. Haley decided she didn't want to help the dog. Here is the exchange:

Avery: "Haley, you have 2 choices. You can help me pick up the dog and take it to the vet or leave it on the side of the road and die."

Haley (without hesitation): "DIE!!"

I can't decide which is funnier, Avery's choices or Haley's matter-of-fact answer. Or Avery's reaction to Haley wanting to leave a poor defenseless dog to die on the side of the road. I thought she was going to break into tears!

It's a...

Look at our beautiful baby BOY!!!
Our little baby boy is due June 12th! Avery was so excited, she wanted a boy the entire time. I'm sad I didn't get Haley's reaction on video. She wanted a girl. We told her it was a boy and she stomped her feet and screamed, "I don't want it to be a boy!" She threw such a fit! It was kind of funny. Now she is excited for her little brother. It took some convincing and us telling her she could pick out a John Deere tractor for him to play with. (Her blanket is a pink John Deere blanket. She loves John Deere. Every time she sees a deer crossing sign, she yells~"Look, John Deere!")

Another Award

Avery got another award at school. They don't tell you what award until they announce it at the assembly. The PE teacher got up first and started telling what they worked on this quarter: balance, rolling, etc. As soon as he said balance, we knew that's what award Avery got. She came home awhile back and was so excited because they had to see who could stand on one leg the longest. She was so proud because she won! She loves PE and gets excited every week to go. Of course, she also has a little crush on the gym teacher, Mr. Ingram, so that might also have something to do with it! It has died down, but it used to be that every time she said anything about PE or Mr. Ingram or see him while walking to/from school, she would get the giggles and turn all red. Then there was the day he helped her tie her shoe! (She KNOWS how to tie her shoes!!)

Hall Ball

Some may remember Kev and the girls' game where the girls run down the hall and Kev chucks balls at them. Well, we have started to call it Hall Ball. The girls wanted to play this weekend. Haley's face was so funny! And we don't think she is going to be very good at dodge ball because she would stop so the ball WOULD hit her.

GoG

It was a beautiful weekend~it's been in the 50's for a few days now. We headed to the Garden of the Gods on Saturday to hike around. It was a wonderful hike and the girls had a great time! Avery kept posing and wanting me to take her picture. They love to be outside, too bad it's going to get cold again! Avery told me today she is excited to move to Louisiana so it will be nice outside all the time. I guess that's one thing to look forward to.

Who needs boys when you have girls like this?

Go Cowboys!!

Kev got all the girls Cowboys shirts for Christmas. Since they played on Sunday, we all got them on and cheered! Mine is a Marion Barber jersey, so Avery decided she was Tony Romo. She went and got our football and kept saying, "Marion Barber, I'm going to pass it to you." She also would only answer if you called her Tony Romo. Avery got Haley in on the action by telling her she was Jason Witten. THOSE ARE MY GIRLS!!! Kev's mom called while we were watching the game and she must have commented on Avery being a cheerleader, because I heard her say; "I am NOT a cheerleader, I'm a COWBOY." Again, that's my girl!!

Rib Fest 2010

Now, Avery loves ribs. I mean LOVES ribs. We all love ribs. We found some on sale and decided to have a rib fest. They were fattier than I normally like to buy, but you don't eat the fat anyway and it just adds flavor, right? That's what I tell myself. Kev fired up the smoker and a few hours later we were enjoying our ribs!!! Ribs are definitely not the cleanest meal, but they sure are GOOD!! And we do realize that we are pigs~we only had 2 left!

Santa

The start of the Christmas pictures!! I know, there are a lot. We went to Utah for Christmas this year. We figured it would be awhile before we got back to see everyone. The girls and I went out early and stayed with my parents. Then Kev flew over and we stayed at Paul and Mary's. We surprised everyone with news of baby #3 on its way! We had a fun visit with everyone and yes, Santa did find the girls there. I forgot my camera Christmas Eve and don't have any pictures of the cute Nativity play all the kids did at my parents. (So, if anyone wants to send me any!) Avery was the Angel of the Lord and had to have a lot of tinsel from head to toe, not just a halo. We love our family so much and appreciate everything they did for us. We also are so grateful for the Christmas season to remember our Savior and His miraculous birth. We hope all had a wonderful Christmas!

Lori and I took our kids to the local grocery store to see Santa. Haley went right up to him and Avery waited until Haley was brave to gain her courage. Now, Cade dressed up as Santa almost the entire time we were there. He put cotton balls on with vaseline for a beard at first. But, mom and I made him a cool Santa costume and he loved it! He gave out candy canes and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. It was pretty funny, especially when strangers took pictures of him.

Aunt Helen's Christmas Party

My Great-Aunt Helen has had a Christmas party every year for the past 50 years. We had a lot of fun! For the kids, they had a ring toss game where you tried to ring 2 liter bottles of pop. Avery won 2 of them. She was pretty excited about that! The first time up, she got one! They also had a fishing game where the kids "fished" for a present that I brought. Avery loved her ladybug and Haley loved her pig. All the kids got up on stage and sang Christmas songs. The girls had a ball running around with a ton of cousins!
